Free software and bioinformatics

Yesterday I took part in the first Open source workshop in the Biomedical Research Center in Granada. It was a great event. About 100 researches attended, so we were quite surprised.

These are the slides I used in my presentation.

I talked about different open source projects related to bioinformatics such as Bioconductor, Cytoscape, Taverna, but also I tried to open their minds towards othe concepts such as Open Access and Open Science. I hope I was successful.

I also met Paco Dubois, who is al so writing a blog about bioinformatics and other related stuff

  3. Very nice slideshow, congratulations!!
There are a lot of good slices and interesting points. By the way, I had never seen a picture of Smith and Waterman before!! :)

I am sorry because I could have come: I am in Barcelona, and I remember having heard something about that before.

Good luck with your blog… maybe we will meet at some workshop or event in Spain! :-)
